Butch Walker - Heartwork - new EP

just got around to listening to the new Butch Walker EP (got it last week sometime) and to try to sum it up simply for you, it's different. after the first listen i was disappointed. not what i expected from mr. walker but then again, i'm still waiting for the second coming of readysexgo. after the second listen it started to grow on me. after watching the video thats included on the EP i kinda like the song Mixtape now. the whole EP has a more VH1 (not VH1 Classic) sound to it. very Lifehouse, Tal Bachmanish. it's pretty good for what it is but not the best thing mr.walker has ever released. in fact to me it sounds so different then previous Butch Walker (and related) releases that you almost can't compare it to past stuff. where his older stuff is catchy, has that certain hook, the music on this EP is more flowing than catchy. more of a hum after the song is over then sign along to while its on type of EP. and one more thing, the acoustic cover of the Cars 'My Best Friends Magic Girlfriend' (combo of both songs) has got to go. very bad. The Cars magic (pun intended) is in the pop electricity that their music has (Since Your Gone is a classic) and when it is done acousticly, it loses all the spark. great choice of song, bad choice of style.

i hope this EP was thrown together to just go along with the musical style of Mixtape and that his new full lenght will be more rock/pop in sounding.
